Your journey starts at Lapla Lodge, where you'll gear up and warm up your fishing skills. Then we travel to the mountains to a traditional Swedish mountain camp - and, guided by our experts, venture on snowmobiles into the wild white silence to capture the elusive Arctic Char.

Red Gold

The Arctic Char - "Red Gold" - is the most beautiful fish under the northern ice. We ride out at first light, drill where the sonar says, and drop small jigs into the silence. When the rod tip knocks, everything else disappears.

A stillness so deep you can hear it - then a scream of the drag.

Questions, answered

The winter fishing season at Lapla runs from 01 December to 30 April - deep-winter ice under the northern lights through to long, bright spring days on the frozen lakes.

The star is Arctic Char - the famous "Red Gold" of Lapland - alongside Perch, Grayling, Pike, Rainbow Trout, Whitefish and Roach.

No - you fish from a heated winter tent over the hole while it can be -20°C outside, and warm overalls are included in the ice packages. Back at the lodge a wood-fired sauna by the lake ends the day.

Winter packages start at per person: 3 days of fishing, 4 nights in your own lodge apartment and a heated ice fishing tent. The 5-day trip is , and the 5-day VIP with a Premium 2-Bedroom apartment and full board is per person, VAT included. A snowmobile transfer to remote spots can be added for per day.

Our full hunt: 8 nights split between Lapla Lodge and a traditional Swedish mountain camp, with snowmobiles into the fells to chase the elusive Arctic Char. Full board at both, all transfers included - for a group of 4 guests, VAT included.

No - fishing licences (fiskekort) are personal and vary by water, from 50 SEK per day. We help every guest sort the right licence on arrival; it takes minutes.
